A much awaited comeback from The Witcher Series

Following the announcement of the latest upcoming expansion pack for the 3rd game entitled “The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past” back in May that arrives in 2027, CD Projekt RED CEO Michal Nowakowski has released a video on X (Twitter) announcing plans for the future of the beloved series!
In this 2-minute long video, Nowakowski invited attending fans and players alike to come and visit them at the Gamescom 2026 show floor during the Opening Night Live in Germany happening on August 25 at 8:00 p.m. CEST.

He mentions that they plan to show a lot more of the expansion that’s coming, including a taste of its dark story and the new content that it will bring to the table.
For those who will be attending, Projekt RED will have a huge booth that will be easy to spot in Hall 8 where they show off the firts look at the Songs of the Past expansion. There will also be special RED streams when they go live each and every day of the event, where Michal also hinted that there may be a surprise or two to share.

Plans for The Witcher IV
He then continued his announcement, saying that there will be more happening in the world of The Witcher series, as their team is now working on a brand new saga, whose story will revolve around Ciri, the adoptive daughter of Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer.

They’ve assembled more than 500 incredibly talented developers who are working on the project in to create what Michal calls “something truly special”with a deep impactful story that they hope will stay a long time with the series’ fans and players.
This new story will feature a large and immersive open world, with intense and action-packed gameplay, declaring that this is their “biggest, boldest, and most ambitious game to date”. This game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5.
And while they cannot yet give an exact release date for The Witcher IV, he does mention that they are targeting a 2028 release window. He admits that it will be quite a long time for fans who are eager to see it soon, but asks to “let the team cook” for it to be worth the wait.
